We envision a future where every caregiver/care partner has access to the resources, education, and emotional support they need to care for their loved ones with confidence, dignity, and resilience. Our dream is to build a global community of empowered caregivers/care partners, where their selflessness is honored, their well-being is prioritized, and their voices are amplified. We aspire to lead the way in transforming the caregiving experience, making it more sustainable, fulfilling, and equitable for all, ensuring that no caregiver/care partner ever feels alone or unsupported.
Mission
Our mission at HIS AhMayesIng Grace is to empower caregivers/care partners by providing a holistic, comprehensive range of services that address their physical, emotional, and practical needs. We are committed to delivering evidence-based programs that equip caregivers with the skills and knowledge required to excel in their roles for FREE or minimal cost. We strive to alleviate the emotional toll of caregiving by offering robust emotional support, self-care guidance, and opportunities for respite, ensuring that caregivers/care partners can maintain their health and well-being while caring for others.
Meet The Team
Ursulá
Ursulá is the wife of Elder Joshua D. Mayes, a mother of (3) adult children and from them, has thirteen (13) beautiful grand-blessings. She also raised (3) therapeutic foster children. Ursulá has a background working for and with non-profits as well as in corporate and education environments. She has a Masters Degree in Management & Leadership and started working on her Doctorate prior to her mother’s illness in 2020. Ursulá is a trained facilitator for various evidence-based programs that are offered free of charge to family caregivers.
More importantly, she is a Christian and affectionately considers herself a Serial Caregiver. Ursulá cared for her maternal grandmother, her "grandparents" that raised her, her biological mother and her bonus dad. She also provided long-distance care for her biological father. Ursulá is now providing care for her uncle locally and long-distance care for her mother’s twin sister. She is humbled and honored to be in the Caregiving arena personally and professionally. Her prayer is that we can encourage and embrace one another on our journeys.
As the founder and Chief Care Officer of HIS AhMayesIng Grace LLC, she leads the organization with a blend of personal experience and professional expertise. Ursulá's journey into the caregiving world began when she became a family caregiver, facing the challenges and emotional toll that so many caregivers endure. This personal experience fueled her passion to create a support system for others in similar situations. Ursulá 's deep empathy, coupled with her background, uniquely positions her to guide the organization with both heart and strategic vision. She is an advocate and supporter for all things caregiving and has been a featured advocate for Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregivers. She and the Team are the driving force behind the company’s mission to empower caregivers, and hopes that their unwavering commitment to this cause inspires everyone to thrive. FUN FACT: Ursulá's mother called her a "professional student" because she was/is constantly enrolling in classes.
Joshua
Joshua Daniel Mayes resides in Duluth, GA with his wife, Ursulá Garcia-Mayes. He currently assists his wife with caring for her uncle. Joshua previously cared for his late father-in-law and has prepared himself to care for his aging parents if needed. Joshua brings a fresh perspective from the male and spousal roles in caregiving. He is a caregiving advocate who understands the needs of other caregivers. FUN FACT: Joshua is an ordained Elder at Purpose World Church in Snellville, GA.
Yolanda
Yolanda is a widow of a US Army Military Soldier with five (5) adult children. She has fifteen (15) years of Federal Government service as an International and Domestic Program Assistant. Yolanda is a Certified Personal Caregiver and Assistant, Medication Technician, and Dementia Specialist. She was also certified by DSS as a Director of Activities and Jr. Executive Director of Assisted Living.
Yolanda is an advocate for mental health, specializing in adolescents and caregivers. She has spoken on several panels that included elected state and federal officials. Yolanda's personal caregiving experience includes her deceased husband, an intellectually-disabled son, and her elderly mother. She is an appointed Board Member for HIS AhMayesing Grace, LLC. and looks forward to assisting fellow caregivers. FUN FACT: Yolanda is a chef by trade.
Tasha
Tasha B. Wilson, MLA, CHW is an educator, writer, community health worker, and lover of all things making real change in the community. She is a Louisiana native turned Texan. Tasha has over fifteen (15) years of experience as a communication professional and has dedicated her life to education for over eight (8) years and public health for over four (4 ) years. Tasha's greatest passion is advocating for the elderly, disabled/special-abled children, and domestic workers. She is an advocate for the Alzheimer's Association. Tasha is also a proud board member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. (Lambda Omega Sigma Chapter) and is a member of the Houston Urban League, Houston NAACP, and National Domestic Workers Alliance/We Dream In Black Houston. She also serves on the advisory council for Caregiving While Black and is a huge supporter of the Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation.
Tasha's personal caregiving experience includes her deceased parents and a family friend. She is an appointed Board Member for HIS AhMayesing Grace, LLC. and is adamant about assisting fellow caregivers. FUN FACT: When Tasha is not out making a change in the world, she is enjoying adventures with her husband Kevin.
Kevin
Kevin Wilson, a native of Houston, Texas is currently a paraprofessional in the Spring Independent School District and a student at Houston Community College majoring in Multidisciplinary Studies. He is very intentional about supporting couples who are on a caregiving journey. Kevin and his wife have navigated this journey for a long time and share their experiences and expertise on a variety of panels and community events. FUN FACT: Kevin loves plays, museums, anything historical, and attending sporting events He has a special love for Houston sports teams.
Vonetta
Ms.Vonetta Williams is a native of New York. She has over (twenty-five) 25 years of teaching experience in Early Child Care and Education as well as at the college level. Vonetta's undergrad degree is in Early Childhood Education and her Specialist Degree is in Teacher Leadership.Her teaching career began when she taught Birth-Pre-K.
After twenty-two (22) years, Vonetta transitioned to Kindergarten. Additionally, she is a State Trainer and Life Coach. Vonetta is and has been caregiver to various family members over the years to include her birth parents and bonus parents. She is actively advocating for family caregivers at various levels. Vonetta has been a Care Fellow for several years and is a proud member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority. FUN FACT: Vonetta is left-handed. She loves to travel and collect postcards.
